God’s word became life, and this life became the light of men (Ref:1 John 2:18-21 John 1:1-18)
We give thanks to the Lord for the gift of life, God has kept us all through this year. May his name be praised.
The readings of today wants to draw our attention to Jesus, the saviour who is born, the Word made flesh, the Emmanuel. The gospel focused on the Word, the word of God, words are powerful, this is what we here, and people actually try to take advantage of this , who are you to challenge my word? But the word we talk about today is the word that became life, and this life gave light to men to see , so that they can walk in the right path, the path that is smooth, the path that is life giving. It is not the word that speaks for food, not the word that speaks for interest, it is not the word that speaks for self holiness, it is not the word that speaks to deceive, it is not the word that seeks to confuse, to frighten, to silence. All these attitudes is what the first reading refers to as the antichrist. For the antichrist only have their belly to defend. We have antichrist both in the Church and outside of the Church. their words are only meant to create disorder and this disorder becomes the order for them to devour others. As we enter in the new year ask yourself: are my words giving light?
We pray for God’s wisdom. Happy New Year 2026
