The Lord stands always with the weak
Ref:Sirach 35:12-14, 16-18 2 Tim 4:6-8,16-18 Lk. 18:9:14
The readings of today call on us to be gentle towards one another, we shouldn’t mistreat other people because we think we have the upper hand, or undermine others because we think they are not righteous . We are called to support those who seek justice and right.
The first reading presents the situation of the poor, the weak, the orphan who are often mistreated, misjudged, violated, that their cry go straight to God, and surely he will reply us who take pleasure in taking advantage of such people. God is just in his ways and will in due time give the poor his due. In the second reading Paul recounts his ordeal because everyone deserted him because he was spreading the gospel. But he is now assured of his reward and proudly counts his blessings. God has always been with him.
The gospel presents two people a proud Christian and a humble one, they both presented their petitions , but the humble one has his prayers answered because of his humility.
What does this message mean for us? We need patience and endurance in whatever we are doing, sometimes we are discouraged because we feel mistreated, we feel undermined, just keep moving, God sees everything, and your cry does not go unheard , you who take pleasure in mistreatment of people beware your days are numbered. So therefore let us always be considerate in whatever we do.
May the peace of the Lord be with you all.
