We are not slaves

‎REf: Rom 8:12-17 Lk. 13:10-17

‎The readings invite us to live according to the spirit of God, as Christians we received the Holy Spirit during baptism and this makes us children of God and we are called to live according to the spirit of God, to become slaves of God and not of flesh. The flesh follows instinct, selfishness, greed, nepotism, pride, anger, avarice these are the manifestation of being a slave to the flesh. St Paul calls us to recognize how far we have come as children of God, through Christ we are heirs and the Godness should be seen in us, loving, humble, serving being considerate in every endeavor, kind . Our lives should be a witness to the world.
‎In the gospel we see Jesus healing a woman possessed for several years, a symbol of the slavery of the flesh. Yes some people carry sicknesses for years because of physical sickness yet others carry evil in them for the rest of their lives, they think they are well, but the evil has bend them in such a way that they can’t do any good thing. They may may think they are doing good things but all are out of selfish gains, the Lord is calling such people to come to the temple. There are those who promote such evil too like the pharisee who was not happy that Jesus healed, such people are selfish to the highest degree, they prefer their dogs to eat, and be healthy than even human beings. And this Jesus condemns strongly. Let us pray that the Lord will clean us of every evil and make us free as the children of God.
