BRITAIN THROUGH MY EYES
I heard words that seemed not normal
or was I the one not normal?
I heard of the nations that participated in world cup
and didn’t bother to let the knowledge fill my own cup
I think something created a great gap
I was far away from knowing history
I heard of the country that fought and won the noble war
the country that dismantled the mighty empire
a country that did nearly everything right
the country that became the reason I write and speak in English
a country that made me love history
today my mind says I should think
today I think I should think
I should let my kids learn the history
and tell their kids their own story
i should let them speak up to historians
I will let them do what I couldn’t
experience life in another country
give them chances to shop until Ten pm seven nights a week
air travel three nights a month
read books of facts
ask them if they believe that they had been abducted by aliens one time or another
ask them what Britain would seen to them when they look back in the second half of the twentieth century
I would want them to get lost
But would love to see them go for walks
I would love them reading books,
venturing out for drinks
but I would love to watch them go to museums, use the bank, get lost and seek for help
I would stand a hillside with them to take a view
take pics and in the later days, they would look new
Because I have learnt to love British history .
