KAYONE has a variety  of the services to offer to those who come to learn different skills or even making their orders of items to be made by kayone.  We present you few some of the things we do on this page. Many things are not put on this page due to request of induviduals who prefere having physical contacts with those interested in what we have to offer.

Fashion and design

We teach about color choices, fabric types; in doing so, we help our students to understand different types of fabrics and their properties. We help them to discover through practices fashion products and creativity

  • They learn about branding strategies and the role of social media in fashion.
  • We help them Explore how to predict future fashion trends.
  • We not only teach but also help students to create markets for their products through networking.

THE SCHOOL OF BEAUTY

We give to our students skills in cosmetics, hairstyling, skincare, and wellness. We offer hands-on training, industry knowledge, and prepares students for careers in beauty and aesthetics. We always encourage them to work in group and to support one another to build something that will last in order to not only put what they have learned into practice but also secure the market by keeping their customers close. Today’s jobs are hard to secure. Hair-dressers have to learn how to keep customers.

HAND BAGS MAKING

Making handbags for survival promotes self-sufficiency, resourcefulness, and creativity. Hence, we provide essential skills to youths who are interested; we teach them crafting and problem-solving. We offer them practical knowledge and necessary tools to make a living once a person has learned very  well the skills.  Handbags are mostly used by women but men also do buy from us for their ladies.

KAYONE PRODUCTIONS

Using local materials and ingredients, youths in Kayone make lotion, bar soap, liquid soap, candles, etc for financial support.  As we know, smearing oils can act as moisturizers and protectants for the skin, while bar and liquid soaps are crucial for maintaining cleanliness and preventing illness by eliminating germs. Candles not only provide light in dark environments but can also serve as a heat source and signal for help. By learning to create these items from natural or readily available materials, individuals can enhance their self-sufficiency, improve their quality of life during challenging situations.

TALENTS PROMOTION – K. RECORDS

For a youth living in a village, learning music production and how to play instruments can be transformative, providing a unique outlet for creative expression and cultural connection. It enhances self-esteem and fosters a sense of community through shared musical experiences, while also developing valuable skills that could lead to future opportunities in music and related fields. Kayone gives chance to Youth to develop their talents and some of them get a living from music performances and playing instruments in different occasions.  KAYONE RECORDS was founded to help local artists reach their dreams.

CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT

Many youths face limited employment opportunities due to a lack of practical skills and formal qualifications. Through Construction department, KAYONE aims to provide hands-on vocational training that equips learners with marketable construction skills, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods and become self-reliant.

The Construction Department offers practical training in bricklaying, concrete work, carpentry, plastering, painting, roofing, and basic building technology, while also developing essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, safety awareness, communication, and entrepreneurship. The program combines classroom instruction with practical site experience to ensure graduates are job-ready.

By introducing this department, KAYONE seeks to reduce youth unemployment, promote self-employment, and contribute to community development through the creation of a skilled workforce. The initiative will provide vulnerable youth with a second chance to learn, earn, and transform their lives, enabling them to become productive members of society and contribute to local economic growth.

AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT

The Agriculture Department of KAYONE (Katakwi Youth Network) plays an important role in supporting agriculture and improving livelihoods in Katakwi District. The department empowers young people with modern farming skills, promotes climate-smart agriculture, creates employment opportunities and encourages youth agribusiness. It improves food security, household incomes and agricultural productivity through training, farmer groups, market linkages, value addition and access to agricultural opportunities. KAYONE also connects young people with government programmes, development partners and markets, helping to reduce poverty and unemployment, strengthen sustainable livelihoods, promote community development and enable youth to become productive entrepreneurs who contribute positively to the social and economic transformation of Katakwi District.

The specialty of KAYONE in agriculture, especially in rearing animals rely mainly in principal of buying one cow, goat or sheep one youth, when the animal gives birth the youth keeping it, keep the young one and gives the mother to the next youth, who also in turn keeps the young ones and give the mother to another person, until the mother gets old. The old one is sold to buy another young one which can give birth in order to maintain the continuity of the program.
